Fall in Love at First Kiss (2019)

In the mood for a light, rom-com? Consider this offering out of Taiwan, “Fall In Love At First Kiss”. This film reunites director Chen Yu San and Darren Wang, the star of her first feature, the enjoyable romance flick “Our Times”. Chinese actress, 23 year old Lin Yun, most recently seen in the popular drama series, “Fights Break Sphere/Battle Through the Heavens”, plays the female lead.

Adapted from the Japanese manga Mischievous Kiss by Kaoru Tada, “Fall In Love At First Kiss” is your typical high school romance movie. Yuan Xiang Qin (Lin Yun) falls hard for Jiang Zhi Shu (Darren Wang), the most popular boy in school. Unfortunately, Zhi Shu is way out of Xiang Qin’s league. Undeterred, she decides to follow her feelings and confesses her love for him. Zhi Shu promptly rejects her declaration resulting in Xiang Qin’s public humiliation.

Through a twist of fate,  Xiang Qin and her father end up living with Zhi Shu’s family and the two are thrown together. Although their relationship is initially rocky, the two eventually grow closer and love develops.

This film was an absolute delight! It opened fittingly on Valentine’s Day in China, Taiwan, U.S., Canada, Australia and U.K.

The King’s Avatar (2019)

Sweet Dreams

Sweet dreams is a romantic fantasy starring Dilraba Dilmurat as Ling Ling Qi and Deng Lun as Bo Hai.

Ling Ling Qi is a sincere, kind girl who is always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She has self-esteem issues which severely impact her career and prevent her from revealing her crush on her colleague, Bo Hai.

By chance, the two participate in a company’s high tech experimental bracelet test to improve sleeping patterns. During the test, the bracelet malfunctions and Ling Ling Qi’s electro brain waves are keyed into Bo Hai’s dream sequence allowing her to enter his dreams.

The story focuses on how they work together to fix their personal problems within their dreams and real lives.
